Good luck to our 8th Grade students
taking the Catholic High School Entrance Exam
 on Saturday, October 25th

Dear Lord, as I take this exam, I thank You that my value
is not based on my performance, but on Your great love for me.
Come into my heart so that we can walk through this time together.
Help me, not with this test, but the many tests of life
that are sure to come my way.

As I take this exam, bring back to mind everything I studied
and be gracious with what I have overlooked.
Help me to remain focused and calm,
confident in the facts and in my ability,
and firm in the knowledge that no matter what happens today,
You are there with me.  Amen.

Attention Parents - Middle States Update

Sts. Philip and James School was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 2009.  Accreditation is designed to assist educational institutions enhance their ongoing performance efforts for the benefit of their students.  Sts. Philip and James School is now entering the process of re-accreditation which will take place in the Spring of 2016.  This two-year process will include a thorough examination of many areas including our mission, beliefs, instruction, and curriculum.  As part of this evaluation, we will affirm our strengths and propose action plans for improvement and growth.  We will keep our families advised as we move through this process and will be asking for assistance from parents along the way.  Sts. Philip and James School invites this process and believes accreditation to be important because our students deserve the highest level of educational excellence possible.

Sunday's Readings

Sunday, October 26th
  30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

  Exodus 22:20-26
  1 Thessalonians 1:5c-10
Matthew 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, a scholar of the law, tested him by asking, "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"  He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the greatest and the first commandment.  The second is like it:  You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
